A note for the person using this computer¶
GuardianNode is running on this computer. Your parent or guardian set it up to help notice online situations that may need a conversation or support.
What it can see¶
GuardianNode may take pictures of what is visible on the screen and read visible words. It may record the app name, window title, time, and website address as context. It looks for patterns connected with things such as bullying, scams, sexual pressure, grooming, and self-harm.
It does not secretly record keystrokes or turn on the camera or microphone. The GuardianNode shield remains visible. Monitoring can make mistakes: it can miss something important or flag something harmless.
Where the information goes¶
By default, analysis and storage happen on your family's own GuardianNode server. A parent can optionally ask an outside AI service for a second opinion, but GuardianNode shows exactly what would be sent and requires a separate parent choice each time. That service can also make mistakes.
Your choices and questions¶
You can ask your parent or guardian:
- What is being monitored and why.
- To look at an alert together and add context or correct it.
- How long information is kept.
- To pause monitoring for a private or parent-owned session.
- To delete information or stop monitoring when it is no longer appropriate.
- To review a request you submit through GuardianNode.
GuardianNode should support a family conversation, not replace trust or be used as secret surveillance or automatic punishment. An alert is not proof that anyone did something wrong.
If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact a trusted adult or local emergency services. In the United States and its territories, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. GuardianNode is not an emergency service.
Parents: discuss this notice in language appropriate for the child's age before turning on monitoring, and revisit it when the child, device, monitoring scope, retention, or external-AI choice changes.
